Softball Recap: Pompano Beach Has No Trouble Against Immokalee

After only one run in their last contest, Pompano Beach made sure to put some runs up on the board against Immokalee on Saturday. The Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes put the hurt on the Immokalee Indians with a sharp 16-8 victory. The result was nothing new for the Golden Tornadoes, who have now won five matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on GABI OLIVER, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of MACAYLA RICE, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2.

Pompano Beach always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win got Pompano Beach back to even at 5-5. As for Immokalee, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.

Pompano Beach and Immokalee could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Pompano Beach (ranked 128th) will meet Florida Christian (ranked 30th) at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Immokalee will face off against Moore Haven at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th down 106 places (206 vs. 100).
