Basketball Recap: Escalante Comes Up Short

Escalante and Green River squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Escalante had to settle for second. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 64-38 to the Green River Pirates, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Moquis just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Green River's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rolando Anguiano, who went 6-for-10 en route to 19 points in addition to six boards and four blocks. Thanks to that strong game, Anguiano now owns an excellent 40.2% three-point shooting accuracy. Jason Hernandez was another key player, putting up 13 points along with five assists and five steals.

Escalante's defeat dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Green River, they are on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.

Escalante does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Green River, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-57 loss against Wendover on the 28th.
