Basketball Recap: Evansville Central Bears vs. Jasper Wildcats
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Evansville Central Bears walked away with it. They walked away with a 51-38 win over the Wildcats on Tuesday. That's another feather in the cap for Evansville Central, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Evansville Central found their leader in underclassman Madalynn Shirley, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Shirley has scored at least a third of Evansville Central's points. Lindsey Laine was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Evansville Central is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Jasper, their loss dropped their record down to 17-8.
Evansville Central will square off against the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Indiana (Castle is ranked 47th, while the Bears are ranked 42nd). Jasper does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
