Softball Recap: Rutherford Comes Up Short

Rutherford managed to slip by Wood-Ridge the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bulldogs came up short against the Blue Devils on Friday, falling 12-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Rutherford has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Wood-Ridge, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rutherford will face off against Leonia at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Wood-Ridge, they will host Cliffside Park at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
