Baseball Recap: Palmetto Takes a Loss

Palmetto had taken Ferguson down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Palmetto Panthers fell 10-6 to the Ferguson Falcons. The Panthers just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Sebastian Hernandez was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hernandez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Jack Gordon made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Palmetto's record is now 3-10. As for Ferguson, the victory got them back to even at 6-6-1.

Palmetto and Ferguson could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Palmetto (ranked 374th) will meet Southwest (ranked 175th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Palmetto has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. Meanwhile, Ferguson will challenge Miami Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 218 places (362 vs. 144).
