Basketball Recap: Sandhills Valley Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Sandhills Valley had won three straight games and Leyton Connell did his part to make it four on Thursday. The Sandhills Valley Mavericks enjoyed a cozy 54-38 win over the Maxwell Wildcats thanks in part to Connell, who went 9 of 16 en route to 24 points and eight assists. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in assists.

Despite the loss, Maxwell still got an impressive performance from Jesse Reyes, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Huffman, who posted six points along with five assists and five boards.

Sandhills Valley's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Maxwell, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Sandhills Valley will square off against Brady at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sandhills Valley is facing Brady at the right time seeing as Brady is stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Maxwell, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-37 loss against Wallace on the 25th.
