Basketball Recap: Simmons Beats South Delta for Their Third Straight Victory

Simmons entered their tilt with South Delta on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with an 80-71 win over the South Delta Bulldogs. This was a revenge game for the Blue Devils: when they faced off against the Bulldogs back in January, they had to take a 67-54 loss.

Simmons got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Prentavis Madison out in front who made all 7 shots he took racking up 22 points along with six boards and six steals. That's the most rebounds Madison has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kenzavius Lundy, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 22 boards.

Simmons smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.2 offensive boards per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 0.

Despite the defeat, South Delta had strong showings from Amarion Sanders, who went 8 of 13 en route to 22 points and three steals, and Marvin Powell, who went 10 for 14 on his way to 24 points and six rebounds. Sanders has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leroy Lindsey, who posted nine points.

Simmons' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-14. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for South Delta, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Simmons wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-59 victory against Leland on the 28th. As for South Delta, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-54 loss against Shaw on the 28th.
