Baseball Game Preview: McQueen Lancers vs. Sonora Raiders

The McQueen Lancers will take on the Sonora Raiders in a tournament on Tuesday. McQueen has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

McQueen is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They came up short against Yorba Linda, falling 15-7.

Meanwhile, Sonora came up short against Murrieta Valley on Monday and fell 5-2. The loss continues a trend for the Raiders in their meetings with the Nighthawks: they've now lost four in a row.

Damian Roman was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Sonora saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Crowder, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

McQueen's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6-1. As for Sonora, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

McQueen skirted past Sonora 7-6 when the teams last played back in March of 2017. Does McQueen have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sonora turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
