Softball Recap: Elwood Comes Up Short

Elwood lost against Jay County back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Panthers came up short against the Patriots, falling 15-5.

Averi Savage was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Armes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Elwood has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Jay County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-2.

Looking ahead, Elwood will face off against Alexandria-Monroe at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jay County, they will head out to challenge Southern Wells at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
