Recap: Lutheran South Academy Pioneers vs. St. John's Mavericks
The Lutheran South Academy Pioneers pushed their score all the way to 67 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of St. John's by a score of 70-67. While losing is never fun, Lutheran South Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 602nd, while St. John's is ranked 86th).
St. John's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Malachi Booker, who scored 26 points. The contest was Booker's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Williams-adams, who dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists.
Lutheran South Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for St. John's, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-4.
Lutheran South Academy is on the road again on Friday and play against Lutheran North at 5:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Lutheran North is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. St. John's won't have much time to rest: their next game is against St. Thomas Episcopal at 3:30 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Hopefully St. Thomas Episcopal focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Saturday.
