Volleyball Game Preview: Hickory Red Tornadoes vs. Carson Cougars + How To Watch

The Hickory Red Tornadoes will take on the Carson Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Hickory sitting on ten straight wins and Carson on 12.

Hickory is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Everything went their way against Oak Grove as they made off with a 3-0 victory.

While Hickory won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-10, 25-22.

Hickory can attribute much of their success to Ella Kate Stewart, who had 14 digs and one assist. Stewart is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Carson faced off against Franklin on Saturday. The Cougars blew past the Panthers 3-0.

Carson never let Franklin on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-22, 25-21.

Carson's win bumped their record up to 29-3. As for Hickory, their victory bumped their record up to 33-4.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Hickory has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8 aces per game. However, it's not like Carson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Hickory might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Carson in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Red Tornadoes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
