Baseball Game Preview: Kennedy Commanders vs. Lincoln Lancers

The Kennedy Commanders are taking a road trip to face off against the Lincoln Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kennedy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Kennedy is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering DSST: Montview just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 8-4 to the Knights.

Damian Ortiz was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Dylan Nielsen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Lincoln lost 16-6 to Wheat Ridge on Wednesday.

Sam Trujillo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Lincoln is 9-1 when Trujillo posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Gio Castro, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Kennedy, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Kennedy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lincoln struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Kennedy couldn't quite finish off Lincoln in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 11-9. Can the Commanders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
