Basketball Recap: Valparaiso Vikings vs. Hamilton Southeastern Royals
Valparaiso won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were outmatched by the Hamilton Southeastern Royals and fell 69-42. The Vikings were probably out for revenge after losing 61-45 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Kj Avery and Caden Crowell certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Avery posted 12 points and six rebounds, while Crowell went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hamilton Southeastern to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braeden Totton, who had ten points and six assists. The dominant performance gave Totton a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Jacobs, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 11 points.
Valparaiso now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Hamilton Southeastern, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Valparaiso didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-42 defeat against Homestead on the 28th. As for Hamilton Southeastern, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 55-49 victory against Penn on the 28th.
