The Falls Lake Firebirds will head out on the road to face off against the Uwharrie Charter Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Falls Lake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Falls Lake's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past East Wake Academy 11-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Firebirds.

The result came thanks to Wynterlee Glenn's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jolie Sensenig, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cora Cates, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Falls Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Uwharrie Charter Academy hadn't done well against Southwestern Randolph recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Cougars 5-4. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Katelyn West made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. West was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Aubrie Kaufman and Emory Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Kaufman went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while Johnson went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Uwharrie Charter Academy's record is now 12-8. As for Falls Lake, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Uwharrie Charter Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Falls Lake has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game.
