Baseball Game Preview: Gilbert Christian Knights vs. ALA - West Foothills Guardians

The Gilbert Christian Knights will take on the ALA - West Foothills Guardians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Gilbert Christian has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while ALA - West Foothills will arrive with three straight wins.

Gilbert Christian's tournament run continued when they took on Crismon on Saturday. Gilbert Christian took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Crismon. That's two games in a row now that the Knights have lost by exactly four runs.

Micky Moran made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Moran is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stole at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Zack Linker, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, ALA - West Foothills made easy work of Phoenix Country Day on Saturday and carried off a 10-1 victory.

Jaxson Garvey looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gabe Kellett, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Alvarez, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

ALA - West Foothills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .795. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Phoenix Country Day only posted an OBP of .182.

Gilbert Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for ALA - West Foothills, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
