Basketball Recap: Mayville Takes a Loss

Mayville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Vassar Vulcans, falling 53-23. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-13.

Vassar's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makenna McCloud, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. What's more, McCloud posted five steals, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Maya Mccloud was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards.

Mayville's loss dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Vassar, their win ended a 21-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-19.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mayville will face off against Marlette at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Vassar, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Birch Run at 6:00 p.m.
