Basketball Recap: Woonsocket Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Woonsocket had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Juanita Sanchez Complex Cavaliers as the Woonsocket Villa Novans made off with a 33-10 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Villa Novans as it spelled an end to their 21-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Woonsocket's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Akira Moise, who posted eight points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Polanco, who had six points.

Woonsocket and Pilgrim will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Juanita Sanchez Complex will take on West Warwick in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
