Preview: Gilpin County Eagles vs. Lyons Lions
The Gilpin County Eagles will be playing at home against the Lyons Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Gilpin County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Gilpin County scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Union Colony Prep as Gilpin County made off with a 57-32 win. Gilpin County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 22 points or more this season.
Gilpin County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from FAITH RAMSEY, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. RAMSEY continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was ELISE VINCENT, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 10-10 at halftime, Lyons was not quite SkyView Academy's equal in the second half on Monday. They fell 31-20 to the Hawks. Lyons has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Gilpin County now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Lyons, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Gilpin County against Lyons when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 59-29 victory. Will Gilpin County repeat their success, or does Lyons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
