Volleyball Recap: Grossmont Takes a Loss

If Grossmont was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Clairemont last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Foothillers fell just short of the Oceanside Pirates by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Foothillers were not able to make up for their loss to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in September of 2022.

Grossmont took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 14-25, 18-25, 25-12, 15-12.

Despite the loss, Grossmont still got an impressive performance from Ciarrah Doliente, who had 13 digs and two assists. Doliente has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last four times she's played.

Leading Oceanside to victory were August Isaak and Martha Wong. Isaak had 34 assists and five digs, while Wong had five kills and three aces. That's the most aces Wong has posted since back in August.

Grossmont has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Oceanside, they pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Grossmont wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Ramona on the 11th. As for Oceanside, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against El Camino on the 11th.
