Preview: Cabool Bulldogs vs. Marionville Comets

Cabool has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Marionville Comets on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Cabool had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past Ash Grove 40-6 at home.

It was another big night for Tyler Fleetwood, who rushed for 165 yards and four touchdowns. Fleetwood has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played. Owen Casper was another major influence, as he rushed for 58 yards and ran in a TD.

Meanwhile, Marionville put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They didn't even let Miller onto the board and left with a 49-0 win. Given Marionville's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Miller is ranked 283rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Marionville relied on the efforts of Cash Pomeroy, who rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, and Bryer Guerin, who threw for 130 yards and two touchdowns while completing 90% of his passes.

Their wins bumped Cabool to 5-5 and Marionville to 10-0.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Cabool has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 220.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Marionville struggles in that department as they've been even better at 234.6 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.

Cabool was taken down by Marionville 46-16 when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Cabool, Wil Carlton (who rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 200 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
