Softball Recap: Thunderbird Snags Ninth Win in Last 11 Games

Thunderbird hadn't done well against Greenway recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Titans put the hurt on the Demons with a sharp 9-3 win. Considering the Titans have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Alicia Flores and Addison Hodge made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Flores struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Hodge pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Flores has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Flores went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Hodge got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Thunderbird let Catarina Beams and Brianna Nystuen run wild. Beams went 3-for-5 with two RBI, while Nystuen went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Thunderbird kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenway only managed seven.

Thunderbird has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Greenway, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-7.
