Basketball Recap: Monticello Extends Winning Streak to Five

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Monticello walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 72-58 win over the Becker Bulldogs on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Magic sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Monticello's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jackson Soroko, who almost dropped a double-double with 24 points and nine rebounds. The match was Soroko's fourth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Dollard, who posted 11 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Monticello smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 20 consecutive contests.

Monticello's victory bumped their record up to 24-4. As for Becker, their loss dropped their record down to 17-12.

Monticello has already played their next game, a 76-51 defeat against Totino-Grace on the 13th. Becker does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
