Baseball Recap: Stockdale Extends Home Winning Streak to 13

Stockdale had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They put the hurt on the Centennial Golden Hawks with a sharp 10-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Hayden Elchlepp made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Gutierrez, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Eli Saunders, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Stockdale pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Centennial, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-5.

Stockdale will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Golden Hawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
