Baseball Recap: Crawford Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Crawford had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They skirted past the Frost Polar Bears 5-3. Five seems to be a good number for the Pirates as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Easton Vannatta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hunter Tindell, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Gage Grieger was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Crawford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Frost only posted a batting average of .214.

Crawford has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Frost, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-8-1 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Crawford beat Frost by a score of 17-0 later that day.
