Basketball Game Preview: Rampart Rams vs. Pueblo West Cyclones

The Rampart Rams will face off against the Pueblo West Cyclones at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Rampart will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Pine Creek, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Rampart snuck past Pine Creek with an 82-78 win on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.

Rampart got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Theodore Wilson out in front who went 6 for 12 on his way to 20 points. The contest was Wilson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elias Bishop, who posted 19 points and six boards.

Rampart smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Pueblo West entered their game against Liberty on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Pueblo West fell to Liberty 67-61.

Rampart has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Pueblo West, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-6.

Things could have been worse for Rampart, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-49 loss to Pueblo West in their previous meeting back in January of 2022. Can Rampart avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
