Football Recap: Draughn Comes Up Short

Draughn had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-9 to make it seven. They took a blow against the East Burke Cavaliers, falling 62-8. The Wildcats lost against the Cavaliers in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 12-7 score last time.

As for East Burke, their record now sits at 4-6. That looming 62-8 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

Ossie Burkeen produced another solid performance rushing for 230 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 111.1 rushing yards per game.

Draughn does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Burke, they will challenge Tuscola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Burkeen and Sam Trantham.
