After a string of four wins, Oxford Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Hawthorne Math & Science Academy Aviators by a score of 3-2.

Oxford Academy took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 21-25, 17-25, 25-21, 15-1.

Anthony Gomez paced Oxford Academy's offense, picking up 13 kills. Gomez got some help from Matthew Dinh and his 22 assists. Dylan Duong controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Oxford Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Hawthorne Math & Science Academy, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-5.

Coming up, Oxford Academy will challenge La Quinta at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hawthorne Math & Science Academy, they will take on Wildwood at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hawthorne Math & Science Academy is facing Wildwood at the right time seeing as Wildwood is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
