Escondido Charter has gone 8-2 against Classical Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the Caimans at 5:00 p.m. Escondido Charter will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Classical Academy's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Escondido Charter hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Tigers never let Academy of Our Lady of Peace get on the board and left with a 5-0 win on Wednesday.
The result came thanks to Lilly Harper's shutout, as she gave up just three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zaliyah Jones, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Olivia Smith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Classical Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Fallbrook 10-4 on Wednesday. Considering the Caimans have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Eleri Evans was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Evans was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Kalia Gonzalez was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Gezylah Key, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Classical Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Escondido Charter's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Classical Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Escondido Charter hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. However, it's not like Classical Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Escondido Charter's way against Classical Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Escondido Charter made off with a 16-1 win. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Caimans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
