Montague came tearing into Thursday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Grant Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted against the Tigers since May 24, 2019.

Conner McKeown looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Montague is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cooper Bradley, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Jack Degan also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Montague's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Grant, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.
