Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Prep Sets Scoring Season-High Against Groves

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Mary's Prep). They strolled past the Groves Falcons with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 73-55. Given the Eaglets' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Falcons are ranked 324th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Groves still got an impressive performance from Harlem Simpson, who went 11-for-22 en route to 36 points in addition to seven rebounds and four blocks. The match was Simpson's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacey Roy, who posted six points and eight boards.

St. Mary's Prep's win bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Groves, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

St. Mary's Prep has already played their next game (against Carman-Ainsworth), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Groves, they will take on Seaholm at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
