Baseball Recap: McKeesport Tigers vs. Carlynton Cougars
It was a proper cat-fight when McKeesport challenged Carlynton on Thursday. The McKeesport Tigers fell just short of the Carlynton Cougars by a score of 8-7. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Matt Miller was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Mason Gergely was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Even though they lost, McKeesport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carlynton only posted an OBP of .353.
This is the second loss in a row for McKeesport and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Carlynton, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Coming up, McKeesport will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodland Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Carlynton, they will head out on the road to face off against Riverview at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
