Volleyball Recap: Weddington Now 11-1 over Last 12 Games

East Mecklenburg typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Weddington proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 3-1.

Weddington had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 14-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-18.

Liam De Quadros paced Weddington's offense, picking up 14 kills. De Quadros got some help from Nithilan Velavan and his 32 assists. Velavan was also solid from the service line: he led the team with four aces.

Weddington is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for East Mecklenburg, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4.

Coming up, Weddington will square off against Butler at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for East Mecklenburg, they have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Myers Park on the 30th.
