Softball Game Preview: Independence vs. Stone Bridge Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Independence will face off against Stone Bridge. Independence will host Stone Bridge at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Independence has seven straight wins, Stone Bridge has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Independence got the win against Stone Bridge by a conclusive 11-5. The result was nothing new for Independence, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Riley Riccardi was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Cook, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Independence lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Independence pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Stone Bridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
