Softball Recap: Oxford Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Oxford dropped their record down to 5-7 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Sedan Devils by a score of 10-9. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Devils earlier this season, when they won 11-1.

Kennedy Wood made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Madison Mayfield was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Sedan's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-14. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Sedan's side, Jourdyn Mashburn was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Mashburn a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mallory Darnall, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oxford will venture away from home to face off against Little River at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Sedan, they will head out to take on South Sumner [Caldwell/South Haven] at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
