Softball Recap: Benicia Drops Highest Score of Season Against Acalanes

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Benicia). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Acalanes Dons a 17-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Dons recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Alana Robinson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Kaity Nichols was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Rojas, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Benicia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .684. They are 6-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Benicia's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Acalanes, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
