America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Acaden Lewis of
Sidwell Friends is the 2023-24 District of Columbia MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot-2 junior guard led the Quakers to a 27-4 record and their third consecutive DCSAA Class AA championship.
For the season, Lewis averaged 14.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists per contest while shooting 48 percent from the field, 37 percent from 3-point range and 83 percent from the free throw line. He led the way with 16 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals in a 47-37 victory over St. John's in the title game.
Regarded as the No. 82 prospect in the Class of 2025 according to
247Sports, Lewis holds offers from Florida State, Georgetown, Georgia, Maryland, Oregon, St. John's, Villanova, Virginia and Virginia Tech among others.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be released April 10.
