Baseball Recap: Horace Mann Makes It Five in a Row at Home

It was a proper cat-fight when Horace Mann took on Trinity on Monday. The Lions put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 13-2 win. Considering the Lions have won three games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Zach Schwartz made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Schwartz was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Henry Gill was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Matthew Fratepietro was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Horace Mann's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average this season. As for Trinity, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
