Baseball Recap: Shannon Red Raiders vs. Saltillo Tigers
Shannon fell victim to Saltillo and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saltillo Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 last Tuesday.
Daniel Mullins made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base. Timothy Thompson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Shannon's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Saltillo, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.
Coming up, Shannon is taking a road trip to square off against Jumpertown at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Shannon is facing Jumpertown at the right time seeing as Jumpertown is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Saltillo, they will be playing at home against Tupelo at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tupelo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
