Basketball Recap: Owen County Comes Up Short

Owen County has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to the Simon Kenton Pioneers at home by a 72-54 margin on Thursday. The Rebels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Simon Kenton had a senior duo take command as Bode Stone almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards and Braydon Polly went 5-for-7 on his way to 12 points and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Polly. Jordan Bach was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Owen County's defeat dropped their record down to 18-10. As for Simon Kenton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.

Owen County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Simon Kenton, they will challenge Williamstown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
