Football Recap: Provine Takes a Loss

Provine managed to slip by Holmes County Central the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Rams had to suffer through a 42-0 loss at the hands of the Jaguars. The Rams' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

It was another big night for Davarious Johnson, who threw for 166 yards and three TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 34 yards for Holmes County Central. Johnson is becoming a predictor of the Jaguars' success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is 5-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jartavious Smart, who gained 142 total yards.

Provine's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Holmes County Central, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-3.
