Softball Game Preview: Hampton Crabbers vs. Phoebus Phantoms

For the second straight game, Hampton will face off against Phoebus. The Crabbers will host the Phantoms at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Hampton: they have been struggling with 11 straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Phoebus has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.

Phoebus hit Hampton with a six-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Crabbers came up short against the Phantoms, falling 13-3.

For Phoebus' part, Suniya White spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on one hit and racked up ten Ks. White has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chloelle Holliman was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jada Jones, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Hampton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Phoebus, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
