Preview: Dallastown Wildcats vs. Red Lion Lions

The Dallastown Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Lion Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Dallastown fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Spring Grove by a score of 28-21 on Friday. Given Dallastown's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Spring Grove is ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dallastown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Scott, who rushed for 41 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 36 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Kody Kisner, who threw for 95 yards and three touchdowns.

The team's defense also helped out by holding Spring Grove to a paltry 219 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Dallastown's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. Spring Grove's QB won't forget Colby Laughman anytime soon given Laughman sacked him five times.

Red Lion can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They claimed a resounding 61-24 victory over Northeastern on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-0.

Mason Hollingshead was on fire: he rushed for 192 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 64 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Hollingshead really tore up the turf during one magnificent 81-yard run. Chris Price was another key contributor, rushing for 105 yards and a touchdown.

Dallastown's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Red Lion, their win also bumped their record up to an identical 4-5.

Things could have been worse for Dallastown, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 44-30 loss to Red Lion in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Dallastown have more luck at home instead of on the road?
