Excel Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 9-1 walloping at the hands of Varsity Opponent.
Luke Kelley was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Kelley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. Kelley was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Hause Brooks was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and a double.
