Basketball Game Preview: Alexander Cougars vs. Glynn Academy Terrors

The Alexander Cougars will face off against the Glynn Academy Terrors at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Alexander will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Alexander will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating New Manchester, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Alexander skirted past New Manchester 54-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since December 5, 2023.

Alexander found their leader in sophomore Nimah Ibidunni, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ibidunni has scored at least a third of Alexander's points. Another player making a difference was Jaida Stamper, who went 5-for-10 on her way to 11 points.

Meanwhile, Glynn Academy came up short against Evans on Friday and fell 60-47. The Terrors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Alexander will need to focus on slowing down Faith Jernigan, one of several Glynn Academy players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Janiyah Spaulding, who had 11 points along with seven boards and five steals.

Alexander's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points over those games. As for Glynn Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-12.
