Baseball Recap: Keyport Takes a Loss

Keyport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Long Branch Green Wave. If the Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 10-6 to the Green Wave when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Derek Ferm made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season. Paxton Douglass was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Keyport now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Long Branch, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2.

While Keyport had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
