Basketball Game Preview: Norfolk Panthers vs. Fremont Tigers

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Norfolk Panthers challenge the Fremont Tigers at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday... Norfolk is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Norfolk fought the good fight in their overtime match against Lincoln High on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 48-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Links. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Links are ranked 91st).

Norfolk's loss came about despite a quality game from Bo Caskey, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Caskey a new career-high in points. Skylar Indra was another key player, putting up seven points.

Meanwhile, Fremont took a blow against Lincoln Southwest on Friday, falling 61-33. The Tigers have struggled against the Silver Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Norfolk's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Fremont, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Norfolk was able to grind out a solid win over Fremont when the teams last played on January 7th, winning 50-41. Will Norfolk repeat their success, or does Fremont have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
