Basketball Recap: Foothill Tech Takes a Loss

If Foothill Tech was riding high fresh off their 58-28 takedown of Bishop Diego last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Foothill Tech Dragons lost 62-42 to the St. Bonaventure Seraphs on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 642nd, while the Seraphs are ranked 240th).

St. Bonaventure found their leader in sophomore Sarah Cosio, who went 8 for 20 on her way to 21 points along with seven steals and six assists. Cosio also set a new season-high mark in blocks with six. Bella Rico was another key player, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds.

Foothill Tech has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for St. Bonaventure, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-7.

Foothill Tech will square off against Simi Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Foothill Tech is facing Simi Valley at the right time seeing as Simi Valley is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for St. Bonaventure, they will face off against Fillmore at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in St. Bonaventure's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
