Softball Game Preview: Delavan Panthers vs. ROWVA/Galva/Williamsfield Mid County Cougars

The Delavan Panthers will head out to challenge the ROWVA/Galva/Williamsfield Mid County Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Delavan has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Delavan made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Heyworth, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Panthers fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 7-5 on Saturday.

Lainey Klokkenga put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Kara Lowry made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, ROWVA/Galva/Williamsfield unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 14-3 to Alleman two weeks ago.

Delavan's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for ROWVA/Galva/Williamsfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Delavan might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from ROWVA/Galva/Williamsfield in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
