Basketball Recap: Coalfield Takes a Loss

Coalfield came up into this matchup off a tough 32-point loss last Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Clarkrange Buffaloes by a score of 55-52 on Monday. The Yellow Jackets have struggled against the Buffaloes recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Clarkrange got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Noah Gunter out in front who posted 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryton Swallows, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Coalfield's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Clarkrange, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season.

Coalfield will be playing at home against Sunbright at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Clarkrange has already played their next game (against Clay County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
