Basketball Game Preview: Harpeth Hall Honeybears vs. Father Ryan Irish

Harpeth Hall and Father Ryan are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Harpeth Hall Honeybears will take on the Father Ryan Irish at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Father Ryan took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Harpeth Hall, who comes in off a win.

Harpeth Hall can't be too worried about heading out to take on Father Ryan: they just beat Pope John Paul II at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Harpeth Hall strolled past Pope John Paul II with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 43-25. Given the Honeybears' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Knights are ranked 205th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Father Ryan has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 48-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Christ Presbyterian Academy on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Irish have lost by exactly 12 points.

The win made it two in a row for Harpeth Hall and bumps their season record up to 10-6. As for Father Ryan, their loss dropped their record down to 15-3.

Harpeth Hall won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting on January 3rd, slipping by Father Ryan 37-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Harpeth Hall since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
